East of the Cascades, voters reject it
CHENEY - The Cascade Curtain apparently divides more than just liberals and conservatives.
It also separates opinions on whether state officials should be allowed to invest long-term health care funds into stocks of private companies.
Early Nov. 4 general election returns show 589,290 voters statewide, or 56.78%, approved of Senate Joint Resolution No. 8201. On the other side, 448,606 voters, or 43.22%, opposed it.
The measure was a straw ballot on whether state officials could invest funds set aside for long-term care for residents.
