Food bank reports tripled demand

DAVENPORT - Last week, Care & Share received a $5,000 donation from Spokane Teachers Credit Union and $1,500 from an anonymous donor, but the local food bank and thrift store is now facing urgent shortages as the government shutdown and approaching holidays create widespread hardships.

Demand for assistance has tripled this month, Cindy Warner, 74, administrator and president of Care & Share said.

Warner said the organization is in immediate need of protein and meat donations.
