LIBERTY LAKE - A fast start and strong finish carried Davenport to a 4-1 victory over Mount Vernon Christian in the first round of the WIAA Class 2B girls soccer state tournament Tuesday at Ridgeline High School.
Sixth-seeded Davenport advanced to face top-seeded Freeman in the quarterfinals Friday. Glenna Soliday scored twice, while Sam Stiles added a goal. An own goal by Mount Vernon Christian opened the scoring.
