Devous plea deal delayed

DAVENPORT — The change-of-plea case for a Cheney man accused in an alleged August assault was pushed back Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Lincoln County Superior Court as attorneys requested more time to negotiate a deal.

According to defense attorney Dave Hearrean, the defense moved to waive speedy-trial requirements to continue discussions on a potential plea agreement. A new readiness hearing was set for Monday, Dec. 2, with trial scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 31. The speedy-trial expiration would shift to January 31.
