YAKIMA - The Davenport Gorillas capped a memorable weekend at the WIAA Class 1B state volleyball tournament Thursday, Nov. 13, rallying from a morning deficit and finishing seventh with a straight-set sweep of River View.
After a quarterfinal loss Wednesday, the No. 13-seeded Gorillas (18-6) entered the consolation bracket determined to keep their season alive.
Thursday morning, Davenport faced Tri-Cities Prep in a dramatic five-set loser-out match. Down two sets 15-25, 13-25, the Gorillas stormed back to win the final three sets 25-21, 25-23, 15-7, keeping their tournament hopes alive.
