DAVENPORT - New permanent lights illuminated the Davenport Gun Club for only the second time Wednesday night, allowing young trap shooters to break clay targets long after sunset and ushering in a new era of evening practices at the rural facility.
The $8,500 lighting system, funded primarily through a matching grant from the MidwayUSA Foundation with additional donations, enables youth involved in FFA and Washington Youth Shooting programs to train after school commitments such as basketball practice. Previously, daylight-limited sessions were often consumed entirely over weekends.
