REARDAN - A lopsided forfeit count and six pins propelled Davenport/Liberty Launch Academy past rival Reardan 53-24 on Monday night, allowing the Gorillas to claim the traveling "Battle of the Belt" trophy in the Northeast 2B dual.
The Gorillas received five forfeits while surrendering four, turning what could have been a closer contest into a decisive victory in front of a packed Reardan gymnasium.
Davenport coach Jesse Hoff called his squad "real green" in only its second competition of the season but praised the overall effort.
