REARDAN – The Screaming Eagles and Newport Grizzlies basketball teams set aside rivalry on Saturday, Jan. 10, to rally behind Colfax coach Reece Jenkin, who is battling pancreatic cancer.
The evening was about more than basketball.
Both communities transformed the games into a show of solidarity, with players and cheerleaders from both schools donning purple shirts, a symbol of support for pancreatic cancer awareness. Jenkin, a 1999 Reardan High School graduate, has inspired many with his positive attitude and determination.
