Local girl serves as Senate page

HARRINGTON - For the first time in more than 20 years, a student from Harrington High School served as a page in the Washington State Senate, spending a week in Olympia delivering messages on the Senate floor, meeting lawmakers and returning home eager to launch a recycling program at her own school.

Lidia Mattozzi, 15, applied after hearing about the program from her older sister and her father, who learned of an opening in nearby Reardan. She said the chance sounded both educational and fun.

"I decided to apply because the overall experience sounded very educational and fun," Mattozzi said....
