Floyd Milner was dragged several feet by a team of runaway horses while working at a railroad crossing in Govan. The team became spooked and dashed from the elevator where grain was being unloaded and ran across the tracks. Milner saw the horses and sprang for the bridles but missed.

More than 100 people joined in a general cleanup of Mountain View Cemetery. Every business in Davenport closed during cleanup hours, and every firm in town was represented in the workforce.
