Lions Club leads annual Davenport cleanup

DAVENPORT - Volunteers hauled away loads of yard waste, household debris and even an abandoned recreational vehicle as the Davenport Lions Club held its annual Cleanup Days last weekend.

Lions members Art Stevenson and Jim Reinbold helped lead the two-day effort, which has been a spring tradition for more than a dozen years.

Stevenson, working the scales at the transfer station, recalled one resident's reaction after her trailer was unloaded.

"Those Lions up at the tipping station were terrific," she said. "By the time I got out of the car they had me unloaded."
