Council talks cleanup

Discusses alternative options

DAVENPORT — — The City Council on Wednesday, April 28, debated whether to strengthen enforcement of city ordinances on junk vehicles, litter and property maintenance.

Councilman Lance Strite raised the issue, noting a public works employee was hired last year with the understanding he would handle both seasonal public works duties and part-time code enforcement.

Councilman Cory Hollis agreed.

“If we’re going to pay him for code enforcement, I think we need to do that,” Hollis said. “Otherwise what’s the position for?”
