Briney to lead Gorillas football

DAVENPORT - A familiar face with deep roots in the program and community will guide the Gorillas football team into its next chapter.

The Davenport School Board approved the hiring of Trenton Briney, 40, of Davenport, as head coach during its meeting Monday, April 27. Briney, a Davenport alumnus who played on a state championship team and has served as an assistant football coach for nearly a decade, takes over after working under two previous head coaches. He will continue as head coach of the Davenport/Reardan co-op golf program.
