Ballot set for Aug. 4 primary election
DAVENPORT — Candidate filing for the 2026 election closed Friday, May 8, with a single candidate for every major Lincoln County office.
All countywide partisan offices drew a single Republican candidate.
County-level candidates are J. Scott Liebing of Davenport, assessor; Chandra L. Schumacher of Harrington, auditor; Traci Gants of Davenport, clerk; Dan B. Johnson of Davenport, district court judge; Ty Albertson of Odessa, prosecuting attorney; Gabe Gants of Davenport, sheriff; Emily Lybbert-Hansen of Davenport, treasurer; and Rob Coffman of Wilbur, commission District No. 3.
Unlike county races, there’s a contest for the 9th Legislative District, Position No. 2 seat. In that race, incumbent Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, will face Democrat Karina Wallace of Cheney.
Incumbent Mary Dye, R-Pomeroy is the lone candidate for the 9th Legislative District, Position No. 1 seat.
The 9th Legislative District includes all of Lincoln County.
Lincoln County Elections Administrator Norm Caley expects a lower voter turnout because most candidates are unopposed.
