Motorcycle racing heats up

VERNTIA – The region's second-largest motorcycle race roars to life this week as the 15th annual Washington Nitro Nationals bring the fastest show on dirt to the Veritat Bridge area.

Racing action runs from Friday through Sunday, May 15-17, at the Dry Creek Recreation Area on state Highway 24, between Othello and Sunnyside.

The race is the second largest in Washington state — only the Desert 100 at Irby is larger.

Racing takes place all three days, following a riders meeting. The final events generally conclude each day about 5 p.m.
