Davenport runner turns anger into title
DAVENPORT - For Davenport High School junior David Coriell, a disappointing finish on the track is not something to dwell on.
It is fuel.
Moments after a razor-thin, second-place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association state 2B championships in Yakima, Coriell translated his frustration into a historic performance.
He didn't just win the 200-meter state title, he tore up the record books, clocking a blistering 21.86 seconds to set a new state 2B record.
