DAVENPORT — A failed well motor has prompted the City Council to approve a $25,000 replacement to keep the city’s water system running.
During a June 24 council meeting, public works staff reported the well's 200-amp motor stopped working, likely due to a power surge.
The well was taken out of service while staff evaluated options.
Production from that well dropped and employees were unable to resolve the issue in time to prevent the outage.
The affected well serves an area near the hospital. The council reviewed two estimates for the replacement.
