REARDAN — A local man mailed $16,000 in cash to a scammer who claimed he had an outstanding warrant.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Rob James McAllister reported the scame June 25.
He said he had been speaking online with someone posing as a judge who told him he had a $16,000 warrant, records show. McAllister withdrew the cash and mailed it from a UPS store in Spokane.
After sending the money, the scammer told him he also had a felony warrant and needed to mail an additional $44,000. A deputy was able to speak briefly with the scammer online before the call was disconnected...
