Ernest Hume who has been superintendent of the Lincoln County poor farm resigned last week and the commissioners named N. M. Lacey of Davenport at his replacement.

Eight Davenport youths were taken into custody after a raid on a residence where officers discovered a real old time prize fight happening. The recent heatwave in the Odessa area broke last Sunday after a high of 106. The second hottest day recorded here. Local farmers reported that the heat did make threshing easier.
