Reclassification has little effect

CHENEY — When the last full round of high school reclassification was set to be implemented about this time in 2024 there were significant local ramifications.

Some gigantic geographic shifts, in fact.

In 2024, movement of schools effectively sliced the Northeast A League in half from seven to four members as Freeman and Newport dropped to 2B while Deer Park elevated to 2A in the Greater Spokane League.

In what might be called the “midterms” of the four-year reclassification cycle where schools can petition moves based on enrollment changes, there are just a few tremors, so-to-speak.
