City looks at tax, water rate hikes

DAVENPORT — The City Council opened a public hearing Wednesday, Oct. 14, on the 2027 preliminary budget, which includes a 1% property-tax increase and a proposed 3% rise in water and sewer rates.

Mayor Brad Sweet, attending digitally from Bremerton, had the annual budget message read into the record by Councilman Lance Strite.

Most revenue sources are expected to stay roughly the same as this year, according to the finance committee report given during the hearing.

“Most of the revenue sources are going to be unchanged, which is fairly typical,” the finance report stated.
