Protecting children from abusers is a no-brainer.
Current state and federal laws protect student records from parents and legal guardians who are defendants in criminal investigations into abuse of their own children. IL26-001 would remove that protection, forcing schools to release confidential information to these defendants. Current laws protect student records from abusive parents and legal guardians. Why change what works?
