The agriculture department at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake has recently made improvements to its curriculum: • A new position was added in June, agricultural education instructor/coordinator. The Odessa Open, the state-sanctioned horseshoes tournament held last Saturday at the Finney Field horseshoe pits had 14 players competing for awards in two classes of play. In the A class, Jerry Conklin of the Tri-Cities took first place, with Earl Hertlin of Creston taking second and Les Myers of Tri-Cities taking third. Additional names have come to light of those who helped with the Kid Zone entertainment venue during Fest. Faye King was one of those helpers as well as Pam Suchland and her sister Jackie. Due to a reporter's error, the names of the members of the honor guard for the Deutschesfest parade were incorrect. Brothers Frank and Marcus Horak have announced that Odessa Auto Parts, also known to Odessa residents as the “NAPA Store,” is in the process of being sold to the group that owns the NAPA franchise in Davenport. A rig hauling a huge power transformer made its way through Odessa on SR21 Tuesday. Escorted by the Washington State Patrol and another vehicle carrying flaggers, the rig was carrying the transformer from the site of its manufacture in Pocatello, Idaho to Wenatchee, presumably for installation at a power plant somewhere in the area.
