Water diversion to Crab Creek proposed in 1931

The talk about diverting water from the Columbia River and the Spokane rivers to Crab Creek goes back a long way.

Most recently, the Big Bend Water Resource group worked toward filling Lake Creek with water from Lake Roosevelt and, possibly, purified Spokane waste water. Lake Creek eventually filled on its own, so the plan died.

In the 1950s, there were thoughts of damming Sylvan Lake, east of Odessa, to irrigate thousands of acres of farmland southeast of town. That dream also died.
