This Week in Odessa History

For years, the annual Deutschesfest Edition of The Odessa Record has listed the Deutschesfest Parade marshals of previous years, back to the first parade in 1971.

This year in announcing Ida Schorzman as parade marshal, The Record again named the past marshals. But as always, there was a void when it came to the 1986 parade.

The parade marshal that year had not been mentioned in the 1986 Deutschesfest Edition or in any other issues of The Record reporting Deustchesfest events. Nor was their any evidence in the parade committee’s records as to who might have served in that capacity.
