Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Scherr coach of the year, Fisher MVP, four on all-opponent team

Head girls volleyball coach Ken Scherr was named the volleyball coach of year in a ceremony at the conclusion of the NE District 1B volleyball tournament in Colton last Saturday, one of the many accolades he has received in his long coaching career.

Scherr had happily retired from both teaching and coaching a couple of years ago, when the new Odessa-Harrington athletic co-operative found itself unable to find a head volleyball coach. Not one to let down all those enthusiastic young athletes, he stepped back into the fray and has led the Titans ever since. Last year, his Titan team placed seventh in the 1B state tournament.

All-opponent team

Four members of his girls volleyball squad were named to the Bi-County all-opponent team: Jordyn Tanke, Kendall Todd, Koralynne Kuch and Chelsea Fisher. Todd and Kuch are both seniors this year, but Tanke, a sophomore, and Fisher, a junior, will be back next year.

Fisher is MVP

Chelsea Fisher also got the nod as the tournament’s most valuable player. She consistently leads the team in kills and blocks and is a fierce competitor.
