Tribute: Gertrude M. (Trudy) Heimbigner

Trudy Heimbigner died January 10, 2013 in Spokane.

She was born July 30, 1932 in St. John’s, New Foundland, Canada to Stan and Lilly (Stevenson) Collins. She grew up in St. John’s and attended school and graduating high school. She later met and married Arnold “Fritz” Heimbigner, and they were married on April 16, 1952 in St. John’s, New Foundland, Canada.

They moved back to the states and lived in various communities like Odessa, Harrington and Reardan before settling in Spokane. Trudy worked as a cook at Holy Family Hospital for over 20 years.

She is survived by six children Debbi (and Alan) Mortlock, Lynn (and Gary) Maurer, Renee (and Mike) Peden, Yvonne (and Buzz) Buzby, Fritz (and Lisa) Heimbigner and Dale (and Barbara) Heimbigner, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers John Collins and Brian Collins; one sister Dorothy Angel and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold “Fritz” Heimbigner in 2003, her grandson Shawn Maurer in 2012 and two brothers Cecil and George Collins.

She enjoyed bowling, gardening and volunteered for the Loren Miller Bike race and Bloomsday and various public events and loved to golf. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Memorial services are pending.
