O-H girls win one, lose one last weekend in basketball

O-H vs. St. Michaels

Junior varsity

The St. Michael’s girls JV game Friday, January 18, was a win for the O-H Titans, 28-23.

Casey Schlomer led the scoring with 8. Shelbey Watkins had 7, Lanessa Simon 6, Sam Nighswonger 3, and Makayla Baird and Ashley Baarstad 2 each.

Simon had 10 rebounds, 16 steals, 2 assists; Sam Nighswonger 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist; Watkins 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 1 assist; Schlomer 6 rebounds, 6 steals, 1 assist.

Varsity

The varsity team took a loss to St. Michael’s. After being down by 8 points at the half, the girls came out strong in the third quarter, holding the other team to 1 point. The fourth quarter was a turnaround of fortune, however, as the Titans could not match the 17 points run up by St. M.

Jordyn Tanke scored 11 points, Katie DeWulf 7, Chelsea Fisher 4, Cydnee Kieffer 3, Carley Williams and Hannah Schmidt 2 each.

Chelsea Fisher had 13 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 assists; Jordyn Tanke 6 rebounds, 7 steals, 2 assists; Katie DeWulf 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists.

O-H vs. Valley Christian

Junior varsity

Valley Christian has no JV girls team.

Varsity

The varsity team, playing at home in Odessa, got the win, 50-34.

Fisher and DeWulf combined for 14 and 13 points, respectively, to pace the Titans. Schmidt added 8, Tanke 6, Schlomer 5, Simon 2 and Cydnee Kieffer and Kaeli Shockley 1 each.

Fisher had 9 rebounds and Tanke had 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 5 assists.
