Independance Day in Odessa

The highlight of the Independence Day holiday in Odessa was the firemen’s barbecue held at Reiman Park last Thursday.

Odessa’s rural and town volunteer firefighters and their families provided a feast that fed approximately 200 people, most of whom stayed around to visit and relax after the lunch.

The remainder of the day was quiet until evening when personal fireworks started going off at various locations about town. A group at Finney Field was setting off some very spectacular fireworks that at times rivaled a professional display....
