Area's car wrecks were numerous in early 1930's

Pick up almost any issue of The Odessa Record from 1928 to 1933 and one of the headlines might well be “More Autos Wrecked here.”

That was the headline on August 22, 1930, over a report of another accident at the Nemo crossing four miles east of Odessa and another right in town, at the notorious “Odell Corner” where State Highway 7 made a right angle at the intersection of what we presently know as Division Street and sixth Avenue.
