INCIDENT LOG

Monday, Aug. 4: Lincoln Hospital personnel treated a girl experiencing a possible allergic reaction and a "dizzy and weak" man who was transported from by Davenport ambulance from a Buckhorn Road residence.

A Davenport woman said she awoke to find a front window box on fire in the 800 block of Main Street.

Deputies responded to a report of a man's suicide in the Harrington area.

A Harrington man reported an orange canoe was stolen from his residence in the 300 block of West Glover.

Deputies found nothing wrong with horses that were reported as neglected on property near Wilbur and on Knapp Road in the Mohler area.

Deputies checked out a report that two or three young men were possibly dealing drugs at the Porcupine Bay campground.

A Harrington woman told dispatchers she found paint on the roof of her residence in the 400 block of West Glover, possibly left by someone who was up there without her permission.

A transient was observed "bothering" children while hiding by a church in the 100 block of NE Knox in Wilbur.

A caller reported a semi-truck traveling at high speed had thrown a rock onto her car on SR 2 west of Davenport, chipping the windshield.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 174 near Spring Canyon campground. Another was reported on SR 2 near Waukon Road east of Reardan.

An 8-year-old girl with burns to her stomach and legs was transported by Davenport ambulance from the Reardan Clinic to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport. EMTs from Reardan and Edwall provided assistance.

Tuesday, Aug. 5: A county jail inmate was observed intentionally gagging himself in an attempt to vomit. He was moved into an observation cell.

Davenport firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 35900 block of Cottonwood Creek Road.

Deputies responded to a possible assault incident involving alcohol in the 100 block of South Maple in Reardan.

A Davenport woman reported someone may have tossed chicken poop into her swimming pool in the 20 block of East Merriam Street.

Concerned about a possible cat-shooter in town and coyotes, a Davenport woman reported her orange cat with six toes on the front paws was missing from the 400 block of Marshall Street.

No one was injured when a vehicle collided with a deer on SR 2 near Wilbur.

Wednesday, Aug. 6: Someone broke into the Creston dog pound and removed a dog confined there.

Responding to an apartment in the 1300 block of Logan Street in Davenport, deputies apprehended a 26-year-old man who had escaped from the custody of the state Department of Corrections.

A traffic collision took place on SR 2 near Davenport, with two individuals taken to a hospital. Three pets were removed from the vehicle and taken to Davenport's city pound.

A report from Grand Coulee indicated that five units at Lynn's Storage had been broken into, with "expensive" tackle and fishing equipment listed as missing from one unit.

A man told dispatchers someone had "messed with" his vehicle parked outside apartments in the 1200 block of Morgan Street in Davenport.

Wilbur Police responded to a report that a woman threw a spatula and hit a man's elbow while he worked at Alibi Tavern.

Thursday, Aug. 7: Melinda L. Hirst, 53, of Spokane Valley, was killed in a collision involving a 2003 Ford Thunderbird and a semi-truck and trailer on SR 174 about five miles west of Wilbur. The truck driver, Ciro Villa-Medrano, 45, of Salem, Ore., and his passenger, Leonel Garcia-Acevedo, 42, McMinnville, Ore., were injured and transported to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport. The Washington State Patrol reports that the vehicle driven westbound by Hirst crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound truck. The vehicle caught on fire with Wilbur firefighters responding. With traffic blocked, a detour was set up using Douglas and Sheffels roads. ? Earlier, a county deputy had stopped Hirst's vehicle at First and Morgan streets in Davenport to check for an impaired driver after receiving a caller's report of hazardous travel in the vicinity of SR 2 and Bennett Road. He ascertained she had been on the phone and upset over a family situation, but was satisfied that she drove west from Davenport in a safe manner.

Ambulance personnel from Wilbur and Creston responded to a collision scene on SR 2. A pickup truck and boat trailer had jackknifed in the roadway halfway between the two communities, with both the driver and passenger apparently unconscious. Another vehicle later "plowed into" the first. Alcohol may have been involved. A disabled boat was towed back to Two Rivers after becoming stranded on the water between there and the Porcupine Bay area.

Deputies recovered stolen property from a residence in the 1300 block of Logan Street in Davenport.

A resident of Jones Road East reported continual loud music originating from another residence in the area.

A deputy investigated a report of possible child neglect in the Creston area, determining it to be unfounded.

Friday, Aug. 8: Davenport ambulance personnel joined EMTs from Reardan and Edwall to assist a 94-year-old man with a head laceration. He was transported to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

Deputies determined that a medical marijuana grow in the 200 block of West 2nd in Sprague was legal. The property occupant said he was "doing everything he can to cover the smell and obscure windows to remain low key."

Deputies checked out a report that marijuana was growing on the front porch of a residence in the 800 block of Park Street in Davenport.

Two riders on a motorcycle were observed drinking beer outside the Sprague Chevron.

A Davenport woman reported that prescription medications she expected in the mail may have been stolen.

After a farmer called in his concern about field fires, a deputy advised occupants of a pickup and camper parked near SR 2 and Fictenburg Road west of Davenport to not have any campfires while camping there.

Claiming the Kalispel Tribe, Northern Quest Casino and other entities were threatening his life, a man came to the sheriff's office for refuge and was allowed to spend the night in the lobby before being referred to mental health personnel.

Saturday, Aug. 9: Minor damage to a vehicle involved in a collision with a deer on SR 2 near Davenport was reported.

Deputies unsuccessfully attempted to locate a loose dog described as aggressively chasing runners in the area of Twelfth and Park streets in Davenport.

An electric fence in the 32500 block of Whitney Road East was reported cut, allowing horses to get loose.

Running loose, two collarless dogs were apprehended in the 600 block of Seventh Street in Davenport near the Lincoln County Historical Society Museum.

A man was unexplainably passing out money at the Davenport Safeway and Pioneer Plaza. One recipient, feeling "unjustified to take the money," returned it to a deputy.

A Cloverdale Road property owner discovered vehicle tracks through a spring wheat field.

A boy's cell phone was reported stolen from his bag while he was swimming at the Davenport pool.

Wilbur Police investigated a possible burglary at the Midtown Tire shop, where a boarded window was pushed in..

Sunday, Aug. 10: Sprague ambulance personnel transported a 65-year-old man from the Sprague Chevron to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane after he experienced either dehydration or heat stroke.

A deputy advised a 15-year-old Almira boy to wait until getting a license before driving a vehicle alone. He was spotted driving a vehicle in Almira.

A Reardan man reported finding a syringe and bloody tissues in a driveway adjacent to Oeschlager Road.

Deputies cited a man for trespassing at the Care and Share facility in Davenport.

Criminal Sentencings

Adam Bronson Cain, 29, Davenport, pleaded guilty Aug. 5 to second-degree theft (access device), amended through plea negotiations from forgery and false identification. The charge is connected to the March 10, 2013, taking of a bank check associated with a woman's Horizon Credit Union account. His sentence includes three days jail (credited as served), successful completion of a treatment program, payment of $800 court costs and restitution and attorney fees to be determined later.

Michael Wayne Brimberry, 44, Creston, pleaded guilty Aug. 5 to two counts of possession of controlled substances (narcotics), amended through plea negotiations from prisoner in possession of a controlled substance and three counts of controlled substance violations in connection with a Feb. 26 incident. His sentence included 26 days jail (credited as served), 12 months probation, and payment of $800 court costs plus restitution and attorney fees to be determined later. He also must not possess or use controlled substances.

Civil Judgments

Finding insufficient evidence to support the claim, the court on Aug. 5 denied a domestic violence protection order requested by Kylee Sue Corning, of Odessa, against Michael Jordan Corning, of Kent, Wash. The parenting plan involving two minor children remains in effect.

509 Fabrication LLC, doing business as Charlie's Restaurant and Lounge in Almira, must pay $1,408.79 in industrial insurance premiums to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

New Criminal Cases

William Emil Hughes, 34, Reardan, is charged with felony harassment (domestic violence) in connection with a July 27 incident in Reardan during which he allegedly threatened to shoot his mother in the head.

Kisha Miles, 49, Wilbur, is charged with first-degree possession of stolen property and nine counts of second-degree unlawful possession of firearms (due to a previous arson conviction). The first charge is connected to the discovery on July 22 of stolen solar panels valued at more than $5,000 inside a Wilbur residence.

New Civil Case

In a foreclosure matter, JP Morgan Chase Bank seeks $208,469.96 claimed owed by Anthony and Jami Hamilton on an April 2007 promissory note for property at 36260 Western Pines Drive in Davenport.
