Candidates needed

A special three-day filing period will be held June 23 through June 25, 2015 for the purpose of declaring candidacy for the following elective positions that were not previously filed for during the regular filing period:

No one has filed for the position of mayor for the Town of Odessa (4-year term) or for Odessa School District #105, Director #1 (4-year term).

Declaration of Candidacy forms are to be filed with the Lincoln County Auditor’s Office at the Courthouse in Davenport between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the above stated dates.

Positions in Harrington and Odessa for which candidates have filed are listed below.

Harrington

For the city of Harrington, Donita Simons and Justin Slack have filed for Councilman #3 (4-year term). Sharon Schultz had also filed but withdrew her name on May 14, opting instead to run for the Councilman #4 position (4-year term) against incumbent Peter B. Davenport.

Levi W. Schenk filed for the Councilman #5 (4-year term) position.

Current mayor Paul M. Gilliland filed for re-election and drew two opponents, Daniel Fromm and Dillon Haas who also filed to run for mayor. A primary runoff election will narrow that race to two candidates who will face off in the November general election.

Ron B. Mielke has filed for re-election to the Fire District 6, Commissioner #2 position (6-year term).
