Track and field sports awards presented at home cookout

As reported last week, the end of the spring sports season was celebrated by holding an awards ceremony. An end-of-season barbecue was held at the home of track and field coaches Travis and Maria Schuh for team members and their families and supporters prior to the presentation of awards. The weather cooperated and the outdoor event proceeded in the comfort of the Schuh's back yard.

Every member of the team was called forward to receive a handshake from the coaches and to hear about his or her accomplishments during the season. All improved in some way or other.

The award recipients were chosen based on voting by the team members.

Voted Most Inspirational by their teammates were Aaron Gies for the boys and Jenna Shafer for the girls.

Most Valuable Player awards went to Sam Schafer and Lanessa Simon. The Most Dedicated award went to Colby Sooy.

Sam Schafer was selected for the Captain's award for the combined team of boys and girls.

Since only four seniors graduated this year, the coaches can look forward to a pretty solid team during next year's season.
