Odessa Record subscriber Larry Fisher of Spokane continues his series of articles on the history of the Batum/Lauer area where his wife, the former Joyce Kiesz, grew up.

Hi, here I am again.

Derr, Mollie (Scheller) (b. 3-08-1892 d. 9-01-1969) Mollie Derr, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Scheller, was

born in Russia. In 1889 she came to Old Mexico with her family. Later, they moved to Oklahoma, then to Washington

where in 1904 they homesteaded near Warden. In 1906 they moved to the Odessa area. She was baptized and confirmed

in the Congregational tradition in her youth and was married to Jacob Derr at Ritzville on Nov 4, 1913. They made their

home on a farm south of Odessa until 1947, when they built a home in Odessa and retired. Her husband preceded her in

death on Feb 25, 1956, also one son in 1946. She was an active member of the United Congregational Church and the

Ladies Aid Society for many years. Mrs. Derr maintained her home until July of this year when her health failed and

she entered the nursing home. Survivors include two sons, Floyd and Harold; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Suchland, all of Odessa; 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, Henry Scheller of Odessa and George Scheller of Ritzville. Doering, Theresa Daisy (Reimann) Mrs. Doering was born on Dec. 20, 1881 in Parkston, SD. She came to Odessa as a young woman on Oct. 10, 1901. In July of 1902 she was married to Ludwig Doering, who died in 1946. They farmed southwest of Odessa for 25 years. She has made her home in Reardan for the past 23 years where she was known by all for the lovely flowers she grew and loved. She passed away at the age of 83, still living in her home as she wished to be. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Esther) Ytreeide, Spokane; two sons, Herbert and Raymond of Moses Lake; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Five sisters also survive: Mrs. Bertha Gering, Monroe, WA .; Mrs. Dena Leimann of Oakland, CA .; Mrs. Mary Sager of Burley, ID .; Mrs. Margaret Raugust, Odessa; and Mrs. Katherine Raugust,

Davenport. Four surviving brothers are August Reimann, Boise, Adolph and Henry Reimann, Caldwell, ID., and Paul Reimann, Ritzville.

Doering, Sophie (Raugust) Mrs. Sophie Doering, 86, was a resident of the Odessa area in the 40’s, when she and her

husband farmed near here. She is the sister of Rudolph Raugust, Mrs. Emma Goede, and Mrs. Bertha Kiesz, of Odessa.
