Titan football team gets sixth straight win

The Odessa-Harrington Titans football team won its sixth game in a row, beating the Entiat Tigers by 32 points.

The Titans were on a roll and just kept going all four quarters Thursday, October 22. The game started off with an intercepted pass on Entiat’s first play of the game. Sage Elder ran 21 yards for the first touchdown, with Gaven Elder running in the extra two points. S. Elder then also scored the next three TDs with two 2-point conversions completed, first by Dylan Shockley on a pass from quarterback Colton Hunt and the second on a run by Hunt. The two-point conversion attempt on the S. Elder’s fourth TD was unsuccessful.

In the second quarter, G. Elder scored the second TD and also ran in the two extra points, while brother S. Elder scored the final TD of the first half with G. Elder running in the conversion.

The first Titan TD of the second half was a 28-yard run by G. Elder followed by Shockley who scored six points on a 50-yard pass by Hunt and G. Elder running in the two-point conversion. The roles then reversed with G. Elder making a 50-yard run and Shockley catching a 50-yard pass from Hunt and scoring the two extra points.

S. Elder and G. Elder made the final two touchdowns for the Titans with S. Elder also making a two point conversion and Aaron Gies running in the last two points of the game to make the final score 84-52.

John DeWulf led on defense with 11 tackles, followed by Sage Elder with eight tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery for a TD. Cole Kissler had 10 tackles and Caleb Behrens had nine. Dylan Shockley had six tackles, plus recovered an onside kick, and Colton Hunt intercepted the ball on Entiat’s first play of the game.

Offensively, outstanding blocking by linemen John DeWulf, Colby Sooy and Cole Kissler enabled the Elder brothers, Sage and Gaven, to dominate the field with a combined total of 530 yards and 10 touchdowns. Sage had 39 carries for 252 yards and six TDs, while younger brother Gaven had 17 carries for 278 yards and four TDs.

Dylan Shockley led all Titan receivers with two receptions for 63 yards and a TD. Chance Messer had one reception for 20 yards.

In passing, Colton Hunt completed three of seven for 83 yards and a TD.

The Odessa-Harrington team now has an overall record of 7-1 and a league record of 3-0.
