Harrington PTA's Halloween carnival draws large crowd

The fourth annual Harrington PTA Halloween Carnival was held Thursday, October 29, in the Harrington School multipurpose room from 5:30-7 p.m. The event brought in approximately 150 people, with children and adults alike dressed in Halloween costumes, ready to enjoy the festivities. With free admission, activities for the evening included games and prizes, arts and crafts, family photos, a “Pie in the Face” and door-prize raffle, and more! “Pizza by the slice” was sold by the PTA, while other school groups offered cotton candy and espresso drinks for a reasonable price.

Raffle tickets were sold for $1, with prizes being awarded throughout the evening. The final raffle ticket was drawn at 6:50 p.m., with the winning number belonging to Izabelle Burke/Kramer. The grand prize for the final ticket drawn was the opportunity to throw a pie into the face of superintendent/principal Justin Bradford. Izabelle seemed to cherish the moment, and the crowd of onlookers cheered her on. Bradford took the pie in the face like a trooper and got some payback by putting the remaining pie in Izabelle’s hair. The raffle ticket sales raised $125 for the PTA.

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of Harrington PTA members and other volunteers, the fourth annual Harrington PTA Halloween Carnival was a huge success! The PTA will continue to plan a family fun event each month that will allow students, parents and community members to enjoy a fun event/activity for little or no cost (look for advertising of upcoming events on the Harrington PTA Facebook page and other local websites). The primary focus of our Harrington PTA this school year is to raise money for new playground equipment for the elementary school. A goal of $5,000 has been set. Having already raised over $2,000, the PTA is well on its way to reaching that goal!
