Titan girls take second place in NE 1B league

The Titan girls had a loss and then a win last Tuesday, February 2, and Thursday February 4.

On Tuesday, the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors (up by 22 points at halftime) conquered the lady Titans by 30 points.

Lanessa Simon and Katie DeWulf each had 10 points. Simon led with eight rebounds, one assist and five steals, while DeWulf had six rebounds, three assists and a steal. Maleah Davison had seven points and five rebounds. Casey Schlomer, Amber Smith, Kassidy Crossley, Brenna Carstensen and Stormy Stiles all had two points each. Schlomer added six rebounds, two assists, and a steal, and Smith had four rebounds, an assist and steal.

Although they were down by six points at half time on Thursday, February 4, the Titan girls returned and finished the game, winning by five points over the Wellpinit Redskins.

Simon had a double double with 25 points (13 of which were free throws), 10 rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Schlomer had 11 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Amber Smith scored 10 points and had three rebounds, an assist and two steals. Katie DeWulf had nine points, five rebounds, six assists, seven steals and a block. Maleah Davison scored eight points and had 10 rebounds, an assist and two steals. Kassidy Crossley had one point and three rebounds.

The team earned second place in the league and will play Selkirk in a District playoff game held in Harrington on Wednesday, February 10, at 6 p.m.
