Odessa teams shine at nationals

Finally everything is posted at 3:05 a.m., and FBLA advisor Terry King and the other chaperones and helpers are so proud of the 21 students who have worked so hard to make this trip to the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The competition is crazy, with 100-120 teams in the various events and only 14-16 making it to the finals. At the end of the event, there were some very happy faces and some very sad ones.

These teams made it into the finals: the Community Service Project team of Brad Johnston, Tori Weishaar and Colton Hunt finished in first place; the Business Plan team of Molly Schafer and Megan Shafer also finished in first place.

Finishing in second place was the American Enterprise Project team of Kassidy Crossley, Zoe Clark, John DeWulf and Chance Messer. In fourth place was the Local Chapter Annual Business Report team of Stacia Lesser and Parker Valverde.

The Business Financial Plan team of Wyatt Haase, Stacia Lesser and Colby Sooy (and original team member Alexis Schmierer) also made it to the finals.

Also working very hard, competing well and being disappointed at not making it into the final round were the Public Service Announcement team of Brenna Carstensen, Lane Lobe and Parker Valverde; the Social Media Campaign team of Alexis Schmierer, Rochelle Schuh and Zoe Clark; the Emerging Business Issues team of Rebecca Fortner, Kassidy Crossley and Tyler Rollins and the Partnership with Business team of Elizabeth Larson, Rebecca Fortner, Jayd Jennings, Tyler Rollins and Brenna Carstensen.
