Knowledge Bowl team headed to state tourney

Molly Schafer, Kiegan Wehr, Thomas Parham, Rebecca Fortner and Elizabeth Larson are the members of the Knowledge Bowl team at Odessa High School who placed second in their regional competition and thus qualified for the state tournament to be held March 18 in Arlington, Wash. On Friday, February 24, Odessa High School's Knowledge Bowl team headed to Whitworth University in Spokane for the annual regional competition. In the B1 division, Odessa finished second (by one point) behind Garfield/Palouse. The nine schools competing in B1 are listed below with their scores:

1. GarPal 81

2. Odessa 80

3. Riverside (2) 76

4. ACH 69

5. Lakeside (2) 62

6. Oakesdale 56

7. Valley Christian 51

8. St. John-Endicott 30

9. Harrington 30

The four teams heading to state are GarPal, Odessa, ACH and Oakesdale. Riverside (2) and Lakeside (2) are the second teams sent by those two 1A schools in order to fill out the B1 bracket. The state tournament will be held Saturday, March 18, at Arlington High School.

Heading up Odessa's team this year are Cole Kissler, Molly Schafer, Elizabeth Larson, Kiegan Wehr, Rebecca Fortner and Thomas Parham. The team is coached by Ellen Holman.
