Irrigation season is to end October 23

The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District has announced that the 2017 irrigation season will end for all East Columbia Basin Irrigation District deliveries on Monday, October 23, 2017. The final day for delivery changes will be Friday, October 20. On October 23, ditchriders will close all farm unit and water service contract turnouts as they begin to drain the canal system.

Irrigation water demands are declining, and as in past years, the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District will soon scale back ditchrider service from six days to five days per week. Full Saturday service will be provided through September 4. After that date, ditchrider service will only be available Monday through Friday, and the Moses Lake and Othello Watermaster Offices will be closed on weekends. Emergency phone numbers for after-hours and weekend trouble calls are listed under “East Columbia Basin Irrigation District”in the Moses Lake, Warden and Othello telephone directories.

Questions regarding Saturday deliveries and the shutoff date may be answered by calling Craig Simpson at 488-9671 or emailing him at csimpson@ecbid.org.
