Zion-Emmanuel to hold Reformation Festival

On Monday, October 30, at 6:30 p.m., Zion-Emmanuel Lutheran Church (4279 SR 21N) will host a Reformation Hymn Festival to commemorate the beginning of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Five hundred years ago, on October 31, 1517, Martin Luther published his famous 95 Theses, which set in motion a movement that changed both the Church and the World. Along with bringing the Christian Church back to the clear teachings of Scripture, Luther’s life and legacy extends to music, art and many aspects of our everyday lives (including public education). During the Festival, participants will hear some of the history of the Reformation as it can be found in the hymnody of the Church. Hymns by Luther himself, Philip Melanchton, Paul Gerhardt, Philipp Nicolai, Isaac Watts and others will be presented and sung by those in attendance.

Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served. Please contact Pastor Mark Squire (509-982-2402) with questions.
