Odessa students compete in area academic contest

This past Wednesday, November 15, Odessa students ranging from third through eighth grades competed in Ritzville against eight other Bi-County schools for the 2017 Bi-County Academic Contest in the categories of Spelling, Math, Speech and Geography. Of the 28 students competing, 17 placed in the top six, while five placed in the top three. Listed below are the Odessa students who placed.

Third grade: Jordyn Lewis first place (Spelling).

Fourth grade: None.

Fifth grade: Mackenzie Lutz third place (Geography), Lily Starkel fourth place (Interpretative Speech), Garrick Rosman third place (Spelling).

Sixth grade: Tyesn Kuchenbuch fourth place (Argumentative Speech), Dakota Steward fourth place (Impromptu Speech), Jacob Scrupps third place (Geography), Aniya Anthony fifth place (Interpretative Speech).

Seventh grade: Taleaha Quesada fourth place (Argumentative Speech), Macey Singer sixth place (Impromptu Speech), Ashlyn Neilsen fifth place (Geography), Yvette Davey fifth place (Interpretative Speech).

Eighth grade: Chloe Winkler fourth place (Argumentative Speech), Nathan Carstensen fourth place (Math), Daeton Deife fifth place (Geography), Emily Scrupps second place (Impromptu Speech), Morgan Sandoval fifth place (Interpretative Speech).

Danielle Hardung, Suzie Deife and Trisha Nelson served as parent chaperones for the event.
