The view from the home field bleachers

Volleyball

The Tiger volleyball season has ended, as only one team from our local district was allowed to move on to the state tournament being held in Yakima this weekend. The Tigers’ loss to Pomeroy last Saturday meant that the Tiger girls will stay home. We find it a rather sad ending to the stellar play the team exhibited in the preliminaries leading up to last Saturday. The girls fought very hard and deserved a shot at state.

Football

The Tiger football team has been stomping on all opponents all this undefeated season. A Spokane television station even commented on the skilled and intelligent play of the Tiger team coached by Jeff Nelson and his staff of helpers. The Tigers play at home again this Friday night against the other Tigers from Republic at 7 p.m. on the football field under the lights. It should be a catfight to the finish.

Last week’s game featured a sparsely filled grandstand. How disheartening to the team to not have the support of their community.

Go out and watch this team. They are working so very hard to get to the championship game this year.
