Lynn Carol Goetz

Lynn Carol Goetz, age 65, born in Minneapolis, MN on November 29, 1953, died on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Greg; her daughter Subreena Slough (Jeff) and their daughters Mikayla and Madison; her son Burley Nelson (Sara) and their four children Jeremiah, Alana, Burley Jr. and Talyn; and daughter Mahryia White and her son Anthony. She is also survived by a sister Kathy Lebrosse.

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Margie Smith and Wayne Smith, her brother Leland Smith, and her sister Karlyn Smith.

Lynn married the love of her life on July 4, 1996 and was a devoted wife. She loved being married and relished being spoiled by her doting husband. She enjoyed many various jobs throughout her life, but largely spent her days traveling with her husband. When she wasn’t traveling and enjoying the many splendors of this country, she could be found watching country western television shows or working in her garden. She loved watching the birds from the comfort of her front porch and she enjoyed getaways in the mountains and camping with her family. Nature was the nurture of her soul.

Lynn found a new deep love when her own children started having children. She loved all of her grandchildren deeply and was profoundly proud to have them in her life.

Lynn was often a woman of few words and when she did speak you never knew what she’d say, but in those rare moments of deep conversation her words were usually profound and meaningful. She will be deeply missed by all who love her.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Church, 302 S. First Street in Odessa. Pastor Jon Hayashi will officiate. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at http://www.stratefuneralhome.com. Internment will be held at the Odessa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center.
