Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

James David Hardung

What a ride James David Hardung, aka "Trader Jim," had on this Earth! On March 26, 2019 James became a new star in the heavens that will light the path of his family and friends for eternity. Jim was 72 and was born on September 17. 1946 in Spokane.

Jim was a proud wheat farmer in Lincoln County. He honorably served his country, completing three eight-month tours during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Navy as an E5. He was also a business owner, a pawn broker and entrepreneur. Jim was an incredible husband of almost 50 years to Mary (Kathy) Hardung. He was an amazing father of three children, a wonderful son, grandfather, friend, cousin, uncle, brother and brother-in-law. In all of these roles Jim was the BEST!

Jim is survived by his mother, Montana Rose Hardung, Roseburg Ore., his beloved wife, Mary Kathleen Hardung of Roseburg; his children, Christy Rose Meisner (Jason), McKinleyville, Calif., David Preston Hardung (Denise) and Joey Jacob Hardung, both of Winston, Ore. His grandchildren Alex Gwen Hardung and Danika Lin Hardung, Zeyden Brooks Stonesifer Hardung, Kyle Page, Rachel Page and Ryan Page were all an amazing addition to his life. He loved each of them deeply and dearly. His many nieces, nephews and others were just like his own children, and he loved them as such!

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Harry Hardung and his brother, Thomas Russell Hardung. Trader Jim loved everything about life, always pursuing his passion for photography or his mastery of everything, including guns, kayaking, camping, traveling, snorkeling, boating and observing nature. Jim brought his unique energy to it all.

But more important than anything else in his life, it was the love he had for his family and friends. Everyone James cared for and loved held a special place in his heart. What a huge heart he had! What a kind and gentle man he was! Anyone who encountered and knew Jim will miss him dearly!

The Hardung family is extremely grateful for all the love and support we have received. Thank you! James Hardung was born on a Tuesday and passed on a Tuesday, he lived 26,488 days and made the most of every minute.
