Winetasting is Friday

Volunteers work wonders

When you turn the calendar from April to May, is Friday, May 3, 2019, circled with a big smiley face because you and your friends are planning a night out? We hope so! It’s the 28th Annual Odessa Healthcare Foundation’s Wine Tasting, Microbrew Sampling, and Auction, at the Odessa Community Center. It’s not too late to make plans. You can still buy tickets at the door. Tickets are $20. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Members of the Odessa Healthcare Foundation board are: President Nancy Floether; Vice-President Brenik Iverson; Secretary Mo Sheldon; Treasurer Lecia Fink; Auction Chairperson Danielle Scrupps; Jan Foster; Barbara Greenwalt; Matthew Kagele; Keith Schafer; Ryan Shafer and Jean Starkel.

This week, the OHF board has been busy setting out tables and chairs, displaying 139 silent auction items, 11 “Live on the Side” items and 28 Live Auction displays. Our bakers will be bringing their donations for the Dessert Auction Friday afternoon. Maybe you can start a friendly bidding war for your favorite dessert, gift certificate, gift basket or weekend trip. You and your friends can sample 18 wines from 13 wineries and three microbrews from Odessa’s Rocky Coulee Brewing Company. Michelle Melgren has created a beautiful vineyard theme and will supervise the kitchen crew of FBLA students and parents.

We often hear, “It takes a village.” Well, nothing is truer when it comes to putting on the OHF’s Wine Tasting, Microbrew Sampling, and Auction. Last week, the board was busy finalizing the program, printing bidder cards and bidding sheets, and creating signs - all with the help of the incredible OMHC staff and FBLA. Thank you. We couldn’t do it without you. In addition to the volunteers who help with all the pre-function jobs, we have many volunteers the evening of the event. We would be lost without our Ace in the Hole and Corks for a Cause coordinators, the wine and beer servers, the wine salespersons, the auction assistants and our faithful Master of Ceremonies. Come and find out who will assist our Master of Ceremonies this year.

The OHF board is thankful we live in a village full of volunteers who care about the healthcare needs of our community. Please join them and us Friday, May 3, 2019, as we raise money to purchase the 12-lead ECG/defibrillator/monitor for the Odessa ambulance and a special state-of-the art exam table for the Odessa Clinic. It promises to be an evening filled with excellent wine, fine microbrews, delicious appetizers, great items to bid on, excitement, laughter and fun.
