Bob Gumm providing aid for Veterans

Local veteran gives back to retired service members in the community

Davenport – Bob Gumm is helping military veterans at the Rural Resources Community Action building. “I’m here to serve our veterans” Gumm said, “when a vet comes in, I handle every aspect.” Gumm is a Veterans Service Officer as part of a pilot grant program and serves veterans in Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille and Lincoln County.

Gumm served in the 7th Infantry Division, U.S. Army and has ancestors that served going as far back as the Frenchand Indian War of 1754-1753. “I have ancestors that served in the military on this continent before there even was a United States,” Gumm said.

Gumm was an athletic coach for 20 years before deciding to dedicate his career to serving veterans. He also runs a cattle ranch and is a proponent of the Homegrown for Heroes Farmer Veteran Coalition.

Gumm can help veterans with federal, state, and local benefits. He is at the Rural Resources Community Action building, 1018 Morgan St, Davenport, on the last Wednesday of every month. Call 509-690-2949 or email RGumm@stevensco.wa.gov to make an appointment.
