Ellensburg man wins quilt raffle

Drawing took place even though Spring Fling was canceled

ODESSA - An Ellensburg man has won the 2020 Odessa Quilt Club show raffle.

Jeremy Lewis winning ticket was drawn at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25. He is the son of Dana and Steve Matthews and the grandson of Dave Edens, all of Odessa.

The drawing took place despite the cancellation of Spring Fling activities, including the Odessa Quilt Club show.

Kyle Tebow, "all-around man Friday to many town organizations," has drawn the winning raffle ticket at most of the recent quilt shows.

As he drew the winning ticket, he was joined this year by club member Laura Estes, who held the bucket of entries.The drawing took place just outside the high school gymnasium doors, the traditional location where the quilt show takes place..

Lewis was quite surprised to hear he was the winner, but shared his family plans to use it on a guest-room bed.

Although this year's quilt show was canceled, plans are already underway for the April 23-24, 2021, show.

Shelley Sieverkropp of Creston will be the featured quilter. The 2021 raffle quilt, designed by Kathie Donahue and Shari Wilson, is currently being quilted and is expected to be ready for display by the end of May.
