Couple honored as Farmers of the Year

Mr. and Mrs. Maury Fink were honored at the Chamber of Commerce meeting last week as the 1970 Soil and Water Conservation District Farmers of the year. About 70 persons attended the noon luncheon. The Finks farm South of Davenport and were picked for the honor because of the conservation practices and efficient farming techniques. Dave Harrison Chamber president congratulated the couple at the luncheon.

Students Learn safety

The Students of the Davenport parent co-op preschool have spent the last couple of months meeting with several community helpers.The group studied safety during September, with Deputy John Coley leading a discussion on safety tips. In October, the students visited the fire station, with firefighter Chris Olsen and Chief Wayne Badgley conducted a tour of the facility and discussing fire safety procedures.

Mary Hanneman, who heads the local emergency medical technician crew, also visited the preschool and let students take a look at the inside of an ambulance.

Elections night results

Only 51 votes separate the two Lincoln County commissioner candidates Rob Coffman and Mr. Rosman, according to the second count on Wednesday of the general election return by the county auditor’s office. Results indicate that Wade W. Mayers has won re-election as Sheriff.
