Sharing Trees out in Davenport this week

DAVENPORT – The Sharing Trees for the Davenport Christmas Care Project are now out at various locations in Davenport including Some Like It Hot! Espresso, Davenport Good Neighbor Pharmacy and Creekside Pharmacy. Anyone interested in purchasing gifts for Davenport families in need this holiday season can pick up tags from the trees. The tags will be available until December 11th, which is also the deadline to return the gifts, unwrapped with the tags attached. Gifts can be dropped off at any Sharing Tree location.

Families who need assistance during the holiday season apply to be a recipient of the project. Families must live in the Davenport School District or have children who attend Davenport Schools. Applications are available every year starting in October and are due mid-November.

Each family who is signed up for the Christmas Care Project receives a holiday meal appropriate to their family size. Adults receive one gift and children receive at least 3 gifts including a “need” item (like a winter coat, snow boots, etc.), a “want” item (toys, hobbies, etc.) and an age-appropriate book.

Monetary donations received from community organizations and individuals cover the cost of any unfilled needs identified once all donated gifts have been turned in. Monetary donations can be mailed to: Christmas Care Project, PO Box 684, Davenport, WA 99122.

In past years, the Davenport community has always pitched in to help with this project by filling tags from the sharing trees or making monetary donations. Project organizers are thankful for the continued support and would appreciate participation again this year. Please call or text Carey Guhlke-Falk at 307-699-4649 for more information.
